The Leading Causes of Failure Are:
Exposure to water. Windows without the proper safeguards to keep water from puddling inside the window frame will fail sooner.
Excess heat. Direct sun exposure causes the panes to expand & contract. Over time it weakens the seals until they crack and allow moisture in.
Old Age. Even the most flexible seal can't last forever. The glass becomes etched from minerals in the moist air, the old seals are difficult to remove in order to get a tight new seal and a repair is just not cost effective.
